ENAMELLED GUITAR CCONCERTINA PHOTO-STRIP BROOCHES

These rather exquisite brooches in shape of a guitar with a pivoting top were sold by at least two companies; Starpic Studios in Blackpool and Hollywood Novelty Co. in London. By simply sliding the top reveals a concertina strip of small photographs. Elvis is the first picture on the strip and when the brooch is closed he can be seen peering through the sound hole. Other examples have been sold with the picture of Tommy Steele at the front. The brooch measures 3" x 1". There are four known variants; one with blue enamel to the sound box, one with red enamel to the sound box, one with green enamel to the sound box and one with plain with no enamelling. The enamelled variants have recessed frets whereas the variant with no enamelling has raised frets The guitar contains a strip of eleven pictures.
